BACK PAIN

Osteopathy, can be effective treatments to assist with both the long and short term treatment and recovery of back and spinal pain. They are often used to complement standard medical care and can sometimes help to reduce reliance on prescription medication.

Osteopaths are focused on back and spinal pain these and can provide a reliable long-term solution for the following types of spinal pain:

  • Sharp, acute, burning, shooting, radiating, throbbing pain – with or without pins and needles, numbness or weakness
  • Dull, uncomfortable, aching, chronic pain
  • Tight, stiff, locked up aches and pain
  • Sharp or uncomfortable pain with movement
  • Sciatica, slipped disc, disc bulges, herniated disc, arthritis, spinal degeneration, spinal joint sprain, muscle spasm and muscle tears are conditions typically treated

With spinal pain, Osteopaths, in particular, are trained to identify more serious and sinister causes and to differentiate and diagnose the origin of the pain. They will often refer to other medical providers if they determine that your pain requires further investigation and can recommended for diagnostic imaging such as spinal x-ray and MRI if required.

HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES

Osteopathy, can be effective in the treatment and management of headache and migraine. Often use to complement standard medical care and can often reduce the need for pain relieving medications. With headache and migraine, Osteopaths, in particular, are trained to identify more serious and sinister causes of pain and to differentiate and diagnose the origin of the head pain. They will refer to other medical providers if they determine that the head pain requires further investigation. Osteopaths can refer for x-ray and MRI if required.

MUSCULAR AND JOINT PAIN

Osteopathy, can be effective treatments for muscles, ligaments, tendons and pain from all joints of the body.
We can assist where there is:

  • Ligament sprains and tears
  • Limited range of motion or joint stiffness, with or without pain, at any joint in the limbs or spine
  • Suspected muscle tears, sports injuries, bruising or when there is pain with, or from, muscular contraction
  • Tendon pains or tendonitis such as tennis elbow
  • Significantly limiting and painful range of motion such as frozen shoulder
  • Inflammations of any structure such as bursitis of the shoulder or hip
  • Arthritic pains

NECK PAIN

Neck pain and headaches often go hand in hand. Stress, trauma, poor posture, heavy lifting and sinus problems are some common triggers that lead to tension in the neck and shoulders. Often patients will describe tenderness and restriction in the neck muscles, under the base of the skull and sometimes in the forehead, jaw and face.

Your Osteopath will identify and diagnose areas of dysfunction within your body that are causing your neck pain or headache. It is important that we understand what type of headache you experience in order to devise the best treatment plan. We also offer a range of products including ergonomic pillows to help your condition.
